Winter Ski Patrol

Train to assist the Crater Lake Ski Patrol

picture of the ski patrol

If you love backcountry skiing, then the Crater Lake Ski Patrol has an opportunity for you. Volunteers are needed this winter to patrol the national park’s cross-country ski trails, and to provide visitors with information and emergency medical services, if needed.

Ski patrol volunteers will learn wilderness first aid, survival and ski skills.  Participants will be taught avalanche awareness, search and rescue protocols, how to use GPS, helicopter safety, and how to build a winter shelter. They will also receive a map, compass and ropes to use while patrolling.

Volunteers must attend mandatory training sessions, and are asked to commit to three patrol weekends. For more information, please contact our volunteer coordinator or fill out a volunteer interest form.

Manditory volunteer training for the 2010-2011 season will be
November 6-7, 2010 and
December 2-5, 2010

For more details on the ski patrol visit there website.
