A family baptizes daughter with Crater Lake water
The
month and the year that Crater Lake celebrated its 100yr anniversary, my
daughter was born (5/2002)
So
we had an ingenious idea of baptizing my daughter with Crater Lake
water.
Talk about a Baptism with meaning.
We
hiked down, filled a bottle with water, had a picture taken with a ranger, hiked
back up and took it to her Baptism.
We
then chose a tin-bowl, that was won in 1935 by my Grandfather in Gymnastic in
Switzerland.
We
filled this bowl with this hard earned Crater Lake Water.
The
priest that baptized my daughter blessed the water and we had the baptismal in
Visalia CA, where my daughter's God-parents live (originally from Klamath
Falls).
We
did not waist any or this Crater Lake Water - the rest of the water we then
poured back in the bottle and took it back home to Medford.
My
mother purchased a white/yellow Rosebush to benefit the Breast Cancer Society
and planted it her back yard.
We
used this hard earned, blessed and well traveled Crater Lake Water to nurture
this brand new rose bush.
The rose bush is still blooming and
growing......
My
daughter is now 7 years old, doing very well as a Gymnast and loves to
swim.....
Crater Lake remains one of our favorite day trip events
and Southern Oregon "show off" location.
We
love to take visitors up there.
