Crater Lake has inspired artists for generations, and now there is an Artist-in-Residence program at Crater Lake National Park

Crater Lake has inspired artists for generations. Hundreds of photographers and painters have attempted to reflect its beauty, and the park has even inspired its own waltz! The Trust works with partners to encourage opportunities to explore the park, and increase our understanding of it, through art.

One notable example is the Artist-in-Residence program, which the Trust helped the park relaunch in 2009. Through this program, artists can apply to receive two weeks of free lodging in the park, either in winter or fall, to pursue their particular art form.
