CRATER LAKE, OR – The nonprofit Crater Lake Trust is hosting two stargazing parties at Crater Lake National Park this summer.
The events are planned for Saturday, July 10 and Saturday, August 14 from 8PM until midnight at the park’s Watchman overlook.
The August event will coincide with Perseid meteor showers, one of the most spectacular astronomical events visible to the naked eye.
The cost of these events is $20, and children under 13 are half price. Participation is limited, and advanced registration is available by calling (541) 708-5125, emailing info@craterlaketrust.org, or visiting the Trust website at http://craterlaketrust.org/events/perseid-meteor-parties. Net proceeds of the events will benefit the nonprofit Crater Lake National Park Trust.
There will be stargazing experts and telescopes on hand, as well as free Dagoba hot chocolate. Visitors are encouraged to bring a telescope if they own one, as well as a blanket or a folding chair, and to be prepared for cool evening weather.
Mr. Allen noted that “this promises to be a special experience for the whole family, and we hope it will help folks gain a greater appreciation for this magical place.”
